Various heat treatment processes are used to homogenize the material and give the final mechanical characteristics to the part.
These treatment processes involve cycles of heating and cooling in order to obtain closely controlled structural transformations.
Each heat treatment process has a different impact on the metal parts:
- Annealing makes the metal more ductile,
- Quenching and tempering increases the metal's hardness and its mechanical strength,
- Bainitic hardening enables the part's final material characteristics to be obtained without tempering,
- Carburising and carbonitriding increases the surface hardness of the metal.
